UIO - International Student Application (Undergraduate)

All applications for the undergraduate programmes should be made to the Marketing Department. Meanwhile application for postgraduate studies should be made to the Institute of Research and Postgraduate Studies (IRPS) or UniKL Business School (UniKL Business School) and is open throughout the year. There are two student intakes per year, in January and July.

January Intake 2012 for Undergraduate Program is now open to all International Students. Please submit all forms and documents to us immediately. All applications should be submitted not later than 15th November 2011.

All international students must complete at least 12 years of education and obtained certificate in Higher Secondary School equivalent to ‘A’ Level for degree programmes. UniKL welcomes applications from various countries subject to the qualification are deemed equivalent to Malaysian qualifications. Below are guidelines for some countries that equivalent to Malaysian students’ entry qualification.

If you receive a full offer you now have a place in the programme you have applied. You must accept your offer before the expiry date printed on the offer letter. Please note that due to the popularity of some programmes, early acceptance of offers is strongly encouraged.
If you receive a conditional offer you have a place in the programme if you meet the conditions specified. Conditions may include forwarding final examination results or English language test score.
To accept the offer, please send the following to UniKL International Office (UIO)

  • Completed Acceptance Form
  • Sponsored students must include a letter of authority from their sponsor which includes details of the name of the programme, details of the company or person (sponsor) who will pay the tuition fees, and any other arrangements covered by the sponsor.

Once we have received formal acceptance of your offer we will then send you an acceptance package which includes your visa, receipts for payments made and an UniKL Arrival Guide. Students must enrol into the programme on the date, time and location specified in the information sent prior to your arrival. Timetables and booklists will be provided after enrolment.

We estimate that you would need approximately USD 400 – 500 per month to cover your living expenses, although this figure does depend on how you choose to live during your time as a student. • Undergraduate and Postgraduate Admissions
• International students who would like to apply to the University Kuala Lumpur for undergraduate study should consult the Marketing Department and UniKL Business School (UniKL BiS), which includes a section specifically for international students, as well as links to respective campus/institute websites.
• International students who would like to apply to the University as postgraduates should consult the Institute of Research and Postgraduate Studies (IRPS) or the website for the appropriate campus or institute.

STEP 1 : Application Form

STEP 2 : Complete Form & Document


Complete the form and attach the following documents :
A. Apply from country of origin (New student)

  • i. Please make payment of RM100 for application fee . International applicants may send bank draft and paid U.S. currency for the processing fee payable to Universiti Teknikal Mara Sdn. Bhd. account no. 14081204891058.
  • ii. Passport Copy – 3 set (including blank page); valid at least 1 year from the Intake date,
  • iii. Certified true copy of your Academic Transcript & examination results ((please include the English translation if it is in a different language),
  • iv. 8 pcs passport-size colour photographs, with (blue background, no borders and image position is front-facing),
  • v. Medical report,
  • vi. TOEFL or IELST transcript,
  • vii. Non Objective Certificate (N.O.C) – for Sub Sahara citizen only


B. Apply within Malaysia (Transfer student)

  • i. Please make payment of RM100 for application fee . International applicants may send bank draft
  • and paid U.S. currency for the processing fee payable to Universiti Teknikal Mara Sdn. Bhd. account no. 14081204891058 . (Please attached the payment slip together with the form and documents)
  • ii. Passport Copy – 3 set (including blank page); valid at least 1 year from the Intake date,
  • iii. Certified true copy of your Academic Transcript & examination results ((please include the English translation if it is in a different language),
  • iv. 8 pcs passport-size colour photographs, with (blue background, no borders and image position is front-facing),
  • v. Medical report,
  • vi. TOEFL or IELST transcript,
  • vii. Non Objective Certificate (N.O.C) – for Sub Sahara citizen only
  • viii. Request for the following documents from recent college/university with Certified True Copies :
  • # Release Letter with Attendance report

  • Please be reminded that :
  • If student pass VISA is NOT yet EXPIRED :
  • - The previous student pass need to be shorten or canceled and obtain the SPECIAL PASS from the previous university or college
  • If student pass VISA is EXPIRED :
  • - Student pass cancellation letter from previous university/college with the verification from the Immigration Department.

STEP 4 : Offer Letter


Upon receipt of application form, application fee and documents, UniKL will issue an Offer Letter if the International Student fulfilled the admission requirements. There are two types of offer letters:

Full Offer :( This will offer you a direct admission into our programme.)
If you receive a full offer you now have a place in the programme you have applied. You must accept your offer before the expiry date printed on the offer letter.
Please note that due to the popularity of some programmes, early acceptance of offers is strongly encouraged.

Conditional Letter
This will offer you admission to a post-secondary programme conditional on either: your successful completion of our English programmes at UniKL or presentation of a TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent prior to entry into the programmes in UniKL.
Students, who are unable to sit for the TOEFL/IELTS test or have not achieved the required standard in either test, will be required to sit for the English Placement Test (EPT). Those who pass the EPT will continue straight into the diploma/degree programme offered by the university , while those who have not achieved the required standard will have to undergo a 6 months English Preparatory Programme (EPP).
UniKL International Office will submit the documents to the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysia Immigration Department for processing the Visa Approval Letter (VAL). This process will take approximately 6 – 8 weeks.
Noe : Special “Offer Approval” is required for some specific programs such as Aviation at UniKL MIAT, where all selection of candidates will be managed by the respective campus/Institute.

STEP 5 : Accepting the Offer

STEP 6 : Visa Approval Letter VAL


When the student pay the payment to UniKL and the university has received the required fees, i.e have been credited into UniKL bank Account via telegraphic Transfer or bank Draft, UniKL International Office will courier the Original Offer Letter and the Original Visa Approval Letter to student.
