The university also witnessed the coming in of foreign students from Thailand, Botswana, Nigeria, Yemen and many more. In City Campus, the registration counters for July Intake 2008 were opened as early as 8.30 in the morning. Full forces of 68 seniors were appointed as committee members to assist registration process. Laura Bainin, one of the committee members and a first year student of Bachelor in Computer Entrepreneurial Management, recalled her fond memory when she registered last year. She remarked that there is an improvement in the overall registration process with the increased number of committee members. Asking about her perception towards UniKL, she said that the university is unique in a league of its own since the students are not only measured with their academic achievement. Rahmah Mat Salleh, a secondary school teacher from Negri Sembilan, accompanied her daughter, Zahairah Izzati Zuraini Ahmad, 21, furthering her study for a degree in Computer System Security. Her daughter gets to know about UniKL from her friends, lecturers and also the media. She has made the decision to do her degree in UniKL after intensive discussions with her lecturers at International Islamic College and Rahmah believes that her daughter will able to do the programme successfully. A couple, Mohd Shaiffudin Mohd Yusuf and Norizan Abdul Latiff, from Grik are both excited as their son will continue his study in higher learning institution and also to stay in Kuala Lumpur all by himself for the first time. His son, Mohd Sharol Irwan will do a degree in Tool and Die for four years in City Campus. Shaiffudin hopes that his son will study hard and get good result. He believes this is possible through conducive learning environment as UniKL has state-of-the art facilities provided for its students. Ahmad Hafizuddeen Ramzi, 21, has actually completed a matriculation programme in Life Science. Accompanied by his father from Kelantan, he registered into UniKL for a degree in Software Engineering. Due to his keen interest in the area, he has made a bold decision not to pursue medicine in an IPTA although he has actually received an offer letter to do so. Apart from his keen interest in ICT, another factor that influences his decision to join UniKL is because of the opportunity offered to all UniKL students to apply for a study loan from Majlis Amanah Rakyat. Mohd Nor Azizi Mat Tahir, 26, believed that he will receive the best education in UniKL as the laboratories and workshop are well equipped. In addition, he is very encouraged with the fact that the teaching and learning method in UniKL are paying much emphasis on practicality rather than theoretical. He believes that this approach will give UniKL graduates an edge over graduates produced by other institutions of higher education. Nor Azizi used to work at PC Care Computer Service in Johor said that with his working experience, he might able to relate his experience with his study. The university would like to wish all new students of the July 2008 Intake a very warm welcome and we are proud to have all of you as part of the campus community.
