Universiti Kuala Lumpur Celebrates Its Fifth Convocation Ceremony 2008

His Royal Highness, Tengku Abdullah Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah, Tuanku Chancellor of Universiti Kuala Lumpur and other distinguished guests celebrated UniKL Fifth Convocation Ceremony with enthusiastic graduates and their family members which arrived at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) as early as 6.30 in the morning.

The Convocation was held for two days, from August 16 to 17, 2008 with 2,275 graduates from various areas of specialisation in the engineering technology fields. Since its establishment in the year 2002, UniKL has produced 7,982 graduates and these graduates are the symbols of University’s mission in producing enterprising global technopreneur.

Tuanku Chancellor during his opening address stressed that the graduates are accountable to sharpen and spread useful knowledge to be benefited by religion, society and nation.

As graduates of UniKL who are liable, competitive and credible, the mission of university should be continued and should not end once graduates leaving the university. He also advised the graduates to be responsible in whatever choices and actions they have chose and to use Al-Quran as a source of guidance to earn Allah’s blessing and will.

Other memorable events during the Convocation were the proclamation of Y.B. Dato’ Noh bin Omar, Minister of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development and Y.B. Dato’ Seri Idris bin Jusoh, the Chairman of MARA as the Pro Chancellors of UniKL.

Zahidah Mohamad Sharif, a graduate of Diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology (Food) from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology received the Chancellor’s and President’s Award together with other 11 award recipients from Tuanku Chancellor.

In conjunction with the Convocation, there were other activities lined up for visitors since August 15, 2008 such as Alumni registration, cultural performances by UniKL’s students, Ministry of Higher Education’s on-line registration, children’s colouring competition and Convo Fiesta where booths were put up for sales and exhibition purposes.
