On January 11, 2009, Universiti Kuala Lumpur has signed a memorandum of understanding with GIATMARA. Thru this MoU, UniKL and GIATMARA will work closely in producing paper certificate to participants that involved in Traditional Yacht Construction Programme. This programme is developed by GIATMARA and Tuan Haji Abdullah Muda, the owner of Custom Made Wooden Yachts and the famous yacht contractor in Malaysia.

 

       Y.B. Dato’ Haji Saifuddin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (MeCD) has graced and witnessed the signing and exchanging document of the MoU. In his speech, MeCD has gives it full support in this porgramme because the government believes that it is important to have a proper documentation in constructing traditional yacht before this valuable heritage withered thru time. Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud and Assoc Prof. Haron Abas recived certificates that appointed both of them as Technical Advisor of GIATMARA.

 

       For the ceremony, UniKL was represented by Y.Bhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Abdul Hakim bin Juri, President/ CEOUniKL while GIATMARA was represented by Pn. Hjh. Meriyam Abd. Majid, CEO, GIATMARA. Also present at the ceremony were Y. Bhg. Datuk Nam Marthinin, the Director General of MARA and Y. Bhg. Dato’ Haji Mohamad Rais bin Haji Zainuddin, Chairman, Board of Directors UniKL.
