With the theme “Find Your Footprint in the Sky”, Universiti Kuala Lumpur has successfully organised an International Seminar on Aerospace Industry and Environmental Issues 2008. The seminar was held at Main Hall, Ministry of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development (MeCD), from December 1 until 2, 2008 and officiated by Y. Bhg. Dato’ Mohd Hashim Abdullah, Deputy Secretary-General (Entrepreneur) representing Y. B. Dato’ Noh Omar, Minister of MeCD.

In his officiating speech, Dato’ Mohd Hashim Abdullah, stated that MeCD has actively involved in intensifying the growth of the aviation or aerospace industry in Malaysia and it is proud to be part of the intellectual discourse.The seminar deliberated issues on the aerospace industry and environmental issues that covered various topic in the aircraft manufacturing, R&D for environment effect reduction, airlines organizations for environment issues, aeronautical international programme on environment issues and state of the art cooperation between airlines and customers. The seminar attracted nearly 150 participants from various industries involved in commercial airlines, civil aviations, aerospace institutions and SME’s.

The seminar witnessed presentation by European and local experts from aerospace industries, institutions, airlines, MRO companies and research centres including John Blanchfield, Director of Technical Marketing, AIRBUS, Dr. Francois Garnier, Manager of Aero-propulsion Activities, ONERA, Fabrice Godeau, Director of Regional Market Development, SNECMA-SAFRAN Group and Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, Senior Director Quality, Flight Operations and Training, EUROCOPTER Malaysia.

Other distinguished guests present at the officiating ceremony were Mr. Daniel Blaize, Cultural and Scientific Counselor, French Embassy representing Mr. Marc Baroty, Ambassado du France in Malaysia, Y.
