At the recent Malaysia Technology Expo (Invention and Innovation) 2009, a Gold Medal Award (First Place Award) was given to Inr. Mohd Harridon bin Mohamed Suffian for his invention the Pilot Debriefing Programme. This award was for the Aviation Category. The Pilot Debriefing Programme was developed to aid crash investigation and flight instructors. Data from the Black Box or Memory Unit are extracted and then inserted into the Pilot Debriefing Programme. The programme would then show (on the monitor screen) actual flight rendition (3 Dimensional) based upon the recorded data. Flight Parameters such as Altitude, Air Speed, Heading and others are also shown. This thus aids flight instructors where they could pin point whether a pilot had actuated a mistake or not during flight. It also aids crash investigation as it shows the state of the aircraft seconds before crash. The Pilot Debriefing Programme is also highly portable and could be ported to most desktops and laptops thus giving it an advantage.

Inr. Mohd Harridon had taken several students of UniKL-MIAT under his wings to facilitate the spreading of knowledge and expose them to the world of inventions. They were also at the expo to gain valuable insights of the invention scene in Malaysia. Inr. Mohd Harridon in his winning statement expressed gratitude to the President of UniKL Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hakim Juri and the Dean of UniKL MIAT Prof. Ahmad Zahir Mokhtar for their roles in promoting innovation and technological advancement.
