UniKL’s Entrepreneurial Information Centre or “Pusat Setempat Informasi Keusahawanan” or in short, PASTIKU was successfully launched on March 11, 2009 by YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development (MeCD). The event was held at Bestari Hall, UniKL City Campus. Also present were, Chairman of UniKL Council YBhg Dato’ Zolkipli Abdul, UniKL President/Chief Executive Officer YBhg Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri, heads of MeCD Agencies, and other distinguished guests. In affirming its determination to become the premier entrepreneurial technical university, PASTIKU functions as an important information hub for future entrepreneurial undergraduates particularly UniKL students and alumni to familiarize themselves with agencies that have been created to support and assist entrepreneurs such as MARA, TEKUN, Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia, Pertubuhan Kemajuan Ekonomi Negeri-Negeri, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad, FAMA, MARDI, Uda Holding Berhad, SME Bank, Bank Rakyat, and Maktab Kerjasama Malaysia. PASTIKU will facilitate students by providing relevant information and consultation on how these entrepreneurial agencies could assist them in developing their entrepreneurial goals. In his speech, YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah acknowledged MeCD’s recognition on UniKL’s prospect and potential in becoming a prominent entity among technical universities and expressed his hope on UniKL to engender more high quality and skillful entrepreneurs who will excel in the globalised K-economy. In addition, he remarked MeCD’s commitment in being the backbone for this development by providing additional funding of RM10 million to be benefited by potential UniKL entrepreneurs in the future. The event also witnessed the exchange of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Letter of Intent (LoI) between UniKL and four of its strategic partners namely MIMOS Berhad, SME Bank, SAFA College and ICT College. The partnership with MIMOS is to enable UniKL to develop ICT and Electronics-based product using technology from MIMOS. With SME Bank, UniKL will channel its enterprising students venturing to set up their business using facilities provided by SME Bank. The collaboration with SAFA College Trengganu and ICT College Penang is to enable students completing their Pre-Diploma and Foundation courses at these colleges to pursue their studies at UniKL. During the ceremony, YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah also launched the new Siswaniaga logo which was designed by MIIT student Shaira Nadiah Mohamad Jamil who came first in the logo design competition. The logo will be displayed by all companies and enterprises created by graduates of UniKL. A prize giving ceremony was also held where six other logo design participants were rewarded. 1st Place Shaira Nadiah Bt.
