In conjunction with UniKL City Campus Open Day on March 27 to 28, 2009, the 4th CISCO NetRiders Challenge 2009 came to a closing at UniKL City Campus on March 28, 2009. Organised by CISCO Systems Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, UniKL was honoured to host this year’s NetRiders Challenge where various local universities compete each other to be the best.

Two representatives from CISCO Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. attended the closing ceremony, namely, Mr. Devan Parinpanayagam, Director, Enterprise Business, CISCO Systems Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, and Ms. Christina Anthony, Regional Programme Development Manager, CISCO Networking Academy. UniKL was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roslan Ismail, Dean of UniKL MIIT, and Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zakaria, Dean of UniKL IPROM. Also present were, Puan Aiza Zeyati Mohamed Zamani from Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), and Mr. Mohd Johari Othman from MIMOS ACENT.

Among the participants were Multimedia University (MMU), Universiti Teknikal Melaka (UTEM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Malaya (UM), Politeknik Syed Sirajuddin Arau, Perlis, and UniKL itself as the host.

UniKL MIIT team emerged as first runner-up for NetRiders Challenge Diploma Category. The team took home Runner-up Trophies and Certificates. The recipients are as below:

• Hirudeen Mohd (DCNET)
• Abu Jihad Rafsanjani Mohamed Hanapiah (DCNET)
• Mohd Shahid Zainal Abidin (DCNET)

Besides trophies and certificates, the team was also rewarded:

• 3 x Integrated Network Support Professional Program Trainings (MIMOS – RM5000 each).
• RM600 MPH Cash Vouchers (Global Knowledge)
• 3 x Computer Backpacks (Global Knowledge – RM100 each).
