In line with its aim to position the university to greater heights, UniKL is enhancing its collaborative effort in the sports arena by forming strategic partnership with IBIL (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Universal Fitness & Leisure Sdn. Bhd. (UFL). Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was sealed between UniKL and these strategic partners on July 22, 2009 which also marked the official launching of UniKL-IBIL Hockey team, performed by honoured guest, UniKL’s Chancellor/President, Malaysian Hockey Federation, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah.

IBIL (M) Sdn. Bhd. is a company specialised in packetization of carrier networks. It has an established reputation in telecommunications, networking and telecommunication infrastructure industry in Malaysian market. The MoU with IBIL signifies cooperation to establish UniKL-IBIL Hockey Team and participate in the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) (Premier League) in 2009.

Under this MoU, sponsorship of RM100,000 is given by IBIL for the team as well as to provide platform in search of new talents and apprentice for UniKL-IBIL Hockey Team. Additionally, the collaboration with UFL, the largest distributor of sports, fitness and outdoor equipment in Malaysia, is to establish jersey sponsorship arrangement  as well as training kits for the UniKL-IBIL Hockey Team.

Besides these agreements, IBIL with its counterpart, Juniper Networks Inc. has also agreed to provide a pre-employment or internship programme for UniKL undergraduates to enhance their knowledge, skills and employability in the industry.
