A book donation drive has been organised by UniKL Library & Resource Centre in collaboration with Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) in an effort to establish Orphanage Library in various orphanages in Malaysia. This social welfare project was launched in June 2009 and came to a closing on July 29, 2009 in a simple yet meaningful ceremony held at UniKL Library & Resource Centre, City Campus. The book donation was handed over to Pn. Marihah Suhaimi, Board of Trustee, IRM by UniKL Deputy President (Technopreneur and Student Affairs), Prof. Dr. Abu Talib Othman.

As of 28 July 2009, Library & Resource Centre has managed to collect a total of 704 books to be donated to the orphanage and these books ranges from children books, general books, and educational books. According to Pn. Pazilah Hamzah, Manager, Centre for Library & Resource UniKL, this donation drive is an ongoing effort and UniKL Library will work closely with IRM from time to time in order to establish Orphanage Library. She also added that, UniKL Library is targetting to collect a total of 1000 books by end of August 2009.
