2nd International Conference on Engineering Technology 2009 (ICET’09)

Universiti Kuala Lumpur has successfully organised its 2nd International Conference on Engineering Technology (ICET 2009), with the theme ‘Innovating Engineering Technology Research and Technopreneurship towards Realising Industrial Sustainability’. Held from December 8 to 10, 2009, this conference aimed to bring together engineering technology expertise, industry professional, academicians and government representatives to a discourse on research and development, professional practice, business and management in engineering technology fields.

Y.Bhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri, President/CEO of UniKL officiated the conference on December 8, 2009 at The Legend Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. There were also keynote speeches by several renowned speakers, namely; Y.Bhg. Datin Prof. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir, Deputy Director General (Private Institution Sector), Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, Emeritus Professor Raj Balendra from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom and Prof. Werner Braatz from University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim, Germany.

This 3-day conference witnessed the presentation of 94 papers covering various fields of engineering technology by local and international speakers and participants which include biotechnology, advanced material, automotive and robotics. The event has attracted participants from Algeria, India, United Kingdom and Pakistan.

Also present during the opening ceremony and keynote session were His Excellency Dr. Guenter Gruber, Ambassador of Germany, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Azemi Mohd Noor, Deputy President (Academic & Technology) UniKL and representatives from co-sponsors of ICET 2009 such as ORS Technologies Sdn. Bhd., DMG Malaysia Sdn. Bhd and ACA Pacific Sdn. Bhd.
