Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) has successfully organised the 2nd National Symposium on Fermentation Technology (NSFT 2009) on December 14-15, 2009, held at Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC).

Co-organised by Malaysian Society of Applied Biology (MSAB), this national event has gathered researchers, scientists, engineers, technologist and post-grad students to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas and research findings in the area of fermentation technology. Among the participants were from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Kebangsaaan Malaysia (UKM) and international participation from Russia and Cameroon.

This national event also aimed to be the platform for talented researchers from different institutions and industries to establish networking collaboration for the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the area of fermentation technology.

NSFT 2009 was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri, President/ Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Azanam Shah Hashim, Dean, UniKL MICET and Prof. Dr. Wan Mokhtar Wan Yusoff, representing Malaysian Society of Applied Biology. The Plenary Session of NSFT 2009 witnessed presentations by 2 keynote speakers; Assoc. Prof. Dr Muhammad Nor Omar from International Islamic University Malaysia and Mr E.H. Tan from Sartorius Stedim Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
