A public lecture entitled ‘Technical Challenges Facing Air Transport in the 21st Century’ was held at UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) on February 18, 2010 with invited speaker, Prof. Peter Gregson, the President and Vice-Chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast.

Officiated by UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri, this public lecture posed as an academic platform for UniKL MIAT to enhance its networking opportunities with the aviation industries as well as with other IPTA and IPTS. Approximately 150 students from UniKL MIAT participated in this lecture while other guests also includes representatives from Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCAM), Roll-Royce Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Eurocopter Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia Airlines and many more. Prof. Peter Gregson addressed issues pertaining the global growth of air travel and its challenges in terms of education and training, the crucial role of new technology, environmental effect, maintenance, repair and overhaul.
