The Microgravity Research of the Department of Aerospace of UniKL MIAT was chosen by the International Astronautics Federation (IAF) to receive the International Astronautics Conference 2010 Youth Grant Award. This award allows UniKL MIAT to table and present its microgravity research at the International Astronautics Conference (IAC) in Prague on September 2010 where the overall expenses would be borne by IAF. The recipient of the award, Ahmad Helmi Abu Kassim, an aerospace student of UniKL MIAT who is also the director of UniKL MIAT Aerospace Club, would also be taking part in technical discussion pertaining to the aerospace field. Ahmad Helmi and his research advisor, Dr. Mohd Harridon bin Mohamed Suffian, also from UniKL MIAT, is currently in the midst of designing and developing instrumentations to detect minute effects of microgravity towards sound wave where the results would be discussed at IAC. IAF which is based in France is very stringent in their selection of grant recipient. Thus this award signifies the maturity of the aerospace research in UniKL.
