Universiti Kuala Lumpur teams from UniKL BMI, MIAT and IPROM won six awards at the 21st International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2010) that was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from May 14 to 16, 2010. It was the best UniKL performance at the exhibition in recent years which included two gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal.
The winning projects were from UniKL BMI led by Prof. Dr. Badri Abu Bakar entitled “Multi Interface Board (MIB) Trainer Kit for PC Based Application in Microsoft Visual Basic Platform” and “Robotic Hand Gripper (Artificial).” "The excellent performance is due to the teams' hard work, " said Prof. Dr. Badri Abu Bakar, the leader of the UniKL BMI team. Among the UniKL winners was a team from IPROM with a project entitled "Design And Development Of Stair Climbing Trolley”, led by En. Norhisyam Seyajah, a project from UniKL MSI (Aedes Breeding Prevention In Roof Gutter – En. Azlan bin Mohd. Hashim) and a project from UniKL BMI (KgF Hand Grip – Puan Noor Hasmiza Harun). Another project entitled "Levitation Through Electro Kinetic (Distortion Of Space Time Fabric)" by Dr. Mohd. Harridon of UniKL MIAT won a bronze medal.

UniKL BMI team who swapped the Gold Award “Congratulations to UniKL teams. With lack of resources, we are still capable of getting two gold medals” mentioned Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azizan, Director of Center for Research and Postgraduate Studies (CRPS). All inventions at ITEX were judged by a panel of judges from the academia, science and technology experts, accredited bodies as well as oversea experts. ITEX 2010 gathered inventors, scientists, researchers and allied professionals from the science and technology fraternity that showcased more than 650 inventions from more than 24 industrial categories in four halls at the convention centre.

Silver Medal winner from UniKL BMI, UniKL MSI, and IPROM City Campus UniKL Organised annually by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (Minds) since 1989, ITEX saw participation by scientists and researchers from local universities, research institutions, corporate sectors, individual inventors as well as participants from overseas such as Russia, Iran, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and Vietnam.
