UniKL RCMP Provides Medical Services For Rural Community

Universiti Kuala Lumpur through its branch campus, Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak launched its Rural Mobile Medical Mission (RM3) which aims to elevate the health status of rural population especially in Perak.

The mission was launched in conjunction with the working visit of Y.B. Dato' Seri Haji Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal, Minister of Rural and Regional Development to Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak on 3 June 2010.

Also present at the ceremony were Y.Bhg. Datin Seri Hajjah Shuryani Datuk Shuaib, Y.B. Dato 'Seri Idris Jusoh, Chairman, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Y.B Datuk Dr. Adham Baba, Chairman, Universiti Kuala Lumpur and Y. Bhg. Datuk Zamani Md. Noor, Chairman, Board of Directors of PCM Board Sdn. Bhd. and Y.Bhg. Puan Nursiah Arshad, Deputy Security General (Policy) of Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.

RM3 will execute its first programme on 12 June 2010 to Kampung Tonggang, Tanjung Rambutan and Ulu Kinta. Among services offered by the mission include health screening, circumcision, Pap smear test and it will also function as a mobile clinic. The mission is made up of 12 medical expert and staff of UniKL RCMP. The mission will also extend its service to settlements of indigenous people.

Apart from launching RM3, Y.B. Dato' Seri Haji Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal also witnessed an exchange of  Memorandum of Agreement between UniKL RCMP and its strategic partner ; Vinayaka Missions University (VMU), India. This cooperation will enable students from UniKL RCMP to go through their first 26 months in UniKL RCMP while the remaining two and a half of years in VMU. Y.B. Dato' Seri Haji Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal was then taken for a campus tour to view the labs and facilities available in UniKL RCMP.



Y.B. Dato’ Seri Haji Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal and Y.Bhg. Datin Seri Hajjah Shuryani Datuk Shuaib were greeted by students of UniKL RCMP upon their arrival.
