Dr. Afiza Mohamed Ali, President of the 3rd President’s Cup English Debate who is also the Director of Centre for Foundation studies remarked in her speech, “In order to engage in a healthy discussion of issues that are raised by the motion of the debate, you need to have not only healthy minds but also quick thinking, sharp wits and an analytical mind to grasp the issues correctly and come up with plausible and sensible solutions at the spur of the moment. It is also important for us to acknowledge the fact that English is an essential tool for effective communication in the international arena and it is a must for those who wish to express themselves in a global context.”
