Universiti Kuala Lumpur through its branch campus, Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology launched its Professional Programme EASA Part 66 which aims to produce well trained and professional aircraft maintenance engineers that are able to meet the needs of the industry in Malaysia and overseas.
The launch of this professional programme was in conjunction with the visit by His Royal Highness Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Haji Shah Al-Musta’in Billah, Chancellor of Universiti Kuala Lumpur, to Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Institute of Aviation Technology.

Also present at the ceremony were Y.B. Dato 'Seri Idris Jusoh, Chairman, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Y.B Datuk Dr. Adham Baba, Chairman, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Y. Bhg. Dato' Ir. Muhammad Bushro Mat Johor, Chairman of UniKL MIAT, Y.Bhg. Puan Nursiah Arshad, Deputy Chief Secretary (Policy), Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Ibrahim Muhamad, Director General, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Y. H. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri, President/ CEO, Universiti Kuala Lumpur.

The programme started in 2008 and currently has 113 students. In 2011, 37 students are expected to graduate and they will receive certificate of completion programme produced by Aero Bildung GmbH, Germany. Graduates who have working experience in aviation for at least two years are able to apply for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License from Civil Aviation Authority United Kingdom, CAA-UK. The owner of the license can served as an aircraft maintenance engineer in Malaysia and also European countries.
Apart from launching Professional Programme EASA Part 66, Tengku Mahkota Pahang also witnessed oath pledged by 409 new students for July Intake 2010 during the Closing Ceremony Orientation Week UniKL MIAT 2010.
