Kuala Lumpur, 18 July - UniKL Hockey again managed to defy the odds against title favorites in the 9th RSC (Royal Selangor Club) 9-A-Side Tournament held on 17 till 18 July 2010 at RSC Club, Bukit Kiara. UniKL managed to evade title favorites such as KLHC, Sapura and various international clubs from Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore that made up the 30 participating teams this year.

UniKL team comprised of 12 selected young players from its Senior and Junior League team. Even though the team is weakened due to its National Junior players currently touring Europe for international friendlies, the team showed tremendous effort and determination together as a team in this sweet victory, taking home the coverted throphy as well as RM 3,000 for winning the tournament.

In the finals, UniKL faced St. John Alumni Association which had defeated title favorite KLHC in the semi-finals. Even though  St. John tried to deter the spirit of the young UniKL players by playing defensive, UniKL through Muhammad Azri Hassan managed to score the sudden death goal in extra time. Meanwhile, UniKL player Dedy Ariady Jumaidi emerged as the team and tournament top scorer with 6 goals. The prize was presented by Y. Bhg. Tan Sri P. Alegendra, AHF (Asian Hockey Federation) Secretary.

In related news, UniKL Hockey is currently preparing for its second season in Malaysian Premier Hockey League and will start its training with the open trial to be conducted soon.
