A total of 190 distinguished students of UniKL IPROM were celebrated at the inaugural Dean’s List Award Ceremony held at IPROM, UniKL new campus at Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Cheras on August 4, 2010. Y. B. Datuk Dr. Adham Baba, Chairman of UniKL graced the ceremony in conjunction with the House warming of the new campus.

Y. B. Datuk Dr. Adham accompanied by UniKL Deputy President (Technopreneur & Student Affairs), Prof. Dr. Abu Talib Othman, General Manager, Corporate Communication Division UniKL, Tn. Hj. Rosly Ahmad, hosted by IPROM, UniKL Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raja Aziz Raja Ma’arof and Deputy Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Razif Idris. Also present were Deputy Rector of Kolej Polytech MARA.

“IPROM started small during its early inception in 2003 with only 60 students. Alhamdulillah, at present this number had grown to 823 students studying under the various Bachelor, Masters and PhD programmes offered. With this success comes the equal task and responsibility for us to live up to the expectation as one of the ‘Excellent’ Higher Learning Institution in Malaysia as bestowed by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in the Tier 5 or SETARA rating recently”, said Tn. Hj. Rosly Ahmad, the General Manager of Corporate Communication Division in his opening remarks.

Out of 190 recipients, 15 of them were awarded the Special Award by Y. B. Datuk Dr. Adham Baba. One of the recipient, Nurul Afiqah Abdullah, third year Mechanical Engineering Product Design student, shared her tips on how to be in the Dean’s List for four times in a row, “To me, what I did better than the rest was paying attention and stay focus in class at all times. Students need to be confident enough to step forward and ask questions when they are in doubt about a subject instead of nodding it away. That’s what I did”, she revealed.

All guests were entertained by wonderful performances by IPROM first year students and the ceremony ended with Zuhur prayers and Yasin recital.
