Universiti Kuala Lumpur has officially established an affiliation with Newcastle University in a Memorandum of Understanding Signing ceremony held at UniKL City Campus on November 1, 2010. The collaboration signified cooperation between both parties for the implementation of Masters and PhD Programmes for UniKL students in the field of Marine Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology.

UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri represented UniKL as main signatory of the MoU whilst Newcastle University was represented by its Vice Chancellor Prof. Chris Brink. The signing was witnessed by UniKL Chairman, Y.B. Datuk Dr. Adham Baba and Head of International Office, Newcastle University, Dr. John Terry. Both institutions would also widen up opportunity to students to finish up their final year study in Newcastle University. Apart from that, there will also be students exchange and joint research activities that will involve students from both univerisities.

Newcastle University was established in 1834. Currently, they have 3 faculties namely Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering. Newcastle University is a well-known institution in United Kingdom, with an approximately 5,000 employees. The University is located in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England.
