Universiti Kuala Lumpur through its branch campus, UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET), Lumut, Perak, ascertained a promising alliance with A&E Systems Sdn. Bhd. (AESYS) and CAIDMARK Sdn. Bhd to boost its marine industrial resources. UniKL MIMET sealed the collaboration with both parties in a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony held at UniKL City Campus on November 25, 2010.

The partnership with A&E Systems Sdn. Bhd. (AESYS) is focusing on the development and application of anti-corrosion coatings which is advantageous to UniKL MIMET in providing real marine-industry environment education. The collaboration also aimed to boost the technopreneur development programmes based on anti-fouling coating technology as well as exchange of expertise, facilities and technical knowledge for the purpose of R&D, innovation, consultancy, teaching and training activities.

The A&E Group is a Malaysian company that was formed in 2005. The company owns manufactures and distributes both the Alocit and Enviropeel anti-corrosion coating systems internationally and has offices in Australia, Europe and the USA, with its manufacturing base and head offices in Malaysia. The Group’s products have won wide recognition for innovation in the development and application of anti-corrosion coatings for use both above and below water. Central to the Group’s philosophy is the provision of an environmentally-friendly anti-corrosion toolbox with a range of solutions for problems in key areas.

Meanwhile, the partnership with CAIDMARK Sdn. Bhd. enabled both UniKL MIMET and CAIDMARK to jointly provide spaces, facilities and relevant activities for the R&D and other marine and offshore-related services. Both parties will also provide relevant available technical and soft skill expertise in the conduct of R&D, education and commercial training and other marine related services.

UniKL was represented by its President/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri for the signing whilst A&E System Sdn. Bhd. was represented by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Arthur George Haycox. CAIDMARK Sdn. Bhd. was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Assanah Mohd Mydin.
