Universiti Kuala Lumpur President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri went on an official working visit to the Republic of Yemen on December 10 till 14, 2010 in conjunction with Yemen’s Fourth Annual Higher Education Conference titled “Challenges Facing Higher Education: Innovative Solutions” held in Houdaida. UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri was invited as a Keynote Speaker at the conference where he presented UniKL’s model experience in pioneering the Engineering Technology programme in Malaysia Higher Education sector.

In conjunction with the conference, UniKL took the opportunity to broaden its affiliations with the republic by sealing Memorandum of Understandings with various higher learning institutions in Yemen and a Memorandum of Agreement with Excellence Education Promotion and Services (EPPS). The MoU with Universiti of Sana’a was aimed at collaboration in the area of mechatronics whilst the partnership with University of Taiz and University of Aden was hoped to pave ways for the exchange of curriculum design and development programmes, potentially in the area of Information Technology and Marine Engineering. UniKL also sealed an MoU with International College for Health and Technical Sciences with the objective of expanding its resources in the field of Medical Science Technology.

A Memorandum of Agreement was also inked between Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri and Dr. Ali Mohamed Ali Al-Sharafi, General Manager of Excellence Education Promotion and Services (EPPS) to formalise the appointment of EEPS as the operator of UniKL Offshore Office in Sana’a.

During this official working visit, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri was accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Izhar Abu Bakar, Deputy Dean, UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) and Mr. Anuar Berahim, Manager of UniKL Technopreneur and Innovation Division.
