Universiti Kuala Lumpur and Puteri UMNO Sungai Petani had successfully organised a Corporate Social Responsibility Programme called Program Prihatin Rakyat aimed to lessen the burden of typhoon victims of Kg. Pengkalan Bukit Kecil, Sungai Petani, Kedah. A simple ceremony was held on January 9, 2011 at Kg. Pengkalan Batu Lintang, Sungai Petani, Kedah to present the aid in the form of electrical goods to 230 families from  Kg. Pengkalan Bukit Kecil who were badly affected by the typhoon.

Program Prihatin Rakyat is a continuation of the Humanitarian Aid programme which was carried out earlier in November 2010 by two campuses of UniKL namely UniKL Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) in Kulim, Kedah and UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET) in Lumut, Perak which had helped flood victims in Alor Setar, Kedah.

The typhoon that struck Sg. Petani recently had destroyed 250 homes in the surrounding areas. Among the affected villages were Kampung Bukit Keci, Kampung Pengkalan, Kampung Perlis, Kampung Telok Wang, Taman Telok Baiduri and Kampung Petai.

The programme was attended by several Management members and staff of UniKL City Campus  and UniKL MSI. Also present was Dean, Institute of Research and Postgraduate Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Azizan Mohd Noor.
