Enhancing Human Capital Development with University of Waikato, New Zealand

His Excellency Mr. David Pine, the New Zealand High Commissioner to Malaysia visited UniKL along with a strong 9-member delegation from The University of Waikato and subsequently witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between both Universities today, May 20, 2011 at UniKL City Campus.

The University of Waikato is led by the Rt. Hon. Jim Bolger ONZ, the Chancellor as well as the former Prime Minister of New Zealand. He noted that the definitive way forward for any University is none other than the production of the human capital development to meet the needs of the country as well as giving opportunities to the younger generation to fully equipped oneself to face future challenges.

Earlier in his welcoming speech, UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri stressed the seriousness of UniKL and MARA to collaborate together with The University of Waikato in providing avenues for young Malaysians to undertake their studies at Waikato after completing the foundation and 1st year at UniKL. Besides these endeavours, there will also be students and staff exchange programmes between both parties.

Also present in the ceremony were, Prof. Roy Crawford, the Vice Chancellor of Waikato University, Dr. Ed Weymes, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azemi Mohd Noor, Deputy President (Academic and Technology), Prof. Ahmad Zahir Haji Mokhtar, Deputy President (Technopreneur and Student Affairs), Tuan Haji Abd Rahim Hashim, Senior Director of Higher Education Division, MARA, and other senior members of UniKL.
