The awaited historic day has finally arrived after all our hard work in completing the construction of the vehicle for the Perodua Eco Challenge 2011. On June 26, 2011, the team prepared early in the morning for final inspection and paddock decoration with helped from supporters of UniKL Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI). At around 10.30am the judges from Perodua arrived at UniKL MSI paddock where Mr. Amir Rasydan presented to the judges on the engineering construct of the vehicle.

A total of 14 competitors were flagged off in front of the supporters of each university by Melaka Chief Minister, Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Haji Mohd. Ali Mohd. Rustam. UniKL MSI driver Mr. Mohd Nizam successfully finished 8 laps of Melaka International Motorsport Circuit track with total of 13.2 kilometres to sealed 5th place for the longest distance followed by Universiti Tenaga Nasional 13.5 kilometres. This year Politeknik  Ungku Omar wins the longest distance with 24 kilometres and taking home prize of RM20, 000 and trophy. For 2nd and 3rd place Universiti Selangor 19 kilometres and Universiti Sains Malaysia 17 kilometres bring back total cash of RM10,000 and also a trophy each.

The 4th to 6th place winners received RM1, 000 consolation price. UniKL MSI Project Director Engr. Mohd Nizam received the price for 5th place – Longest Distance category from Datuk Haji Aminar Rashid Salleh Perodua Sdn Bhd Managing Director. UniKL MSI stand tall with other university after being announced as 2nd runner up in engineering categories followed by Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for 2nd and 1st place.
