A centre of excellence for Helicopter Maintenance will soon be establish by UniKL at its aviation school UniKL MIAT in collaboration with Eurocopter. The establishment of the centre is part of the offset project by Eurocopter for the purchase of twelve (12) EC725 SAR helicopters by the Ministry of Defence, Malaysia. The centre is expected to offer specialised advance professional helicopter maintenance training programmes according to EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency)  standards and consulting services to the growing aviation industry in Malaysia and the region.
A ceremony to sign the offset contracts was held in Paris on 23 June 2011 in conjunction with the Paris Air Show 2011. UniKL was represented by Prof Dato’ Dr Abdul Hakim Juri at the ceremony.
