UniKL-Department of Fisheries Malaysia Partnership Anchored KL PAUS at UniKL

A Memorandum of Understanding was inked between UniKL and Fisheries Department of Malaysia on July 13, 2011 at Wisma Tani for the handing-over of the Training Ship, KL PAUS. With approval of Ministry of Finance, the Fisheries Department has agreed to write-off its training ship, KL PAUS as a gift to UniKL. The 20 year old training ship was built at Malaysian Shipyard Engineering, Pasir Gudang, at the cost of RM22 million. She was designed as a purse seiner (pukat jerut) fishing training for local fisherman in deep sea tuna fishing. For UniKL , the acquisition of KL PAUS would have a positive impact on the image and the quality of the programs offered at UniKL MIMET.

Y. Bhg. Prof. Ahmad Zahir Haji Mokhtar , UniKL Deputy President (Technopreneur and Students Affair) sealed the agreement with Y. Bhg. Dato’ Ahamad Sabki Mahmood, Chief Director of Fisheries Department of Malaysia . Also present at the signing ceremony were UniKL MIMET Deputy Dean of Student  Affair & Technoprenuer, Assoc. Prof. Zainorin Mohamad and Encik Azhar Ismail, Director Administration & Finance,  Fisheries Department of Malaysia.
