Universiti Kuala Lumpur is the first authorized MATLAB Training Centre in the country after acquiring 30 floating licenses of MATLAB software from Activemedia Innovation Sdn. Bhd. This venture was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between UniKL and Activemedia Innovation Sdn Bhd held on July 27, 2011 at UniKL City Campus.
Speaking at the MoA Signing Ceremony, UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri remarked, “It is very important for the university to implement these kind of technology as the education that encompasses theory and real-world problem-solving is critical to developing the next generation of engineers. It is my hope that the acquisition of these licenses will infuse the entire university with new strength and vigor.”
According to him, the technology is also expected to benefit both students and the university. “With this kind of technology, the teaching and research programmes in UniKL can leverage MATLAB and SIMULINK, allowing the students even the future engineers to learn real-world technology practices.” he added.

MATLAB is a high-performance language for technical computing. It integrates computation, visualization, and programming in an easy-to-use environment where problems and solutions are expressed in familiar mathematical notation. MATLAB features a series of application-specific solutions called toolboxes. Areas in which toolboxes are available include signal processing, control systems, neural networks, fuzzy logic, simulation, and many others. Some of the application areas of the MATLAB and SIMULINK include electromechanical systems and products, control system design/analysis, modeling, simulation and optimization, chemical and industrial process control, signal processing and filtering, test equipment/instrumentation, digital servo systems, Motor and motion control, system identification/parameter estimation and speech Processing.
UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri sealed the collaboration with Mr. Kenneth Koh, Managing Director of Antivemedia Innovation Sdn. Bhd. witnessed by UniKL Deputy President (Technopreneur and Student Affairs), Prof. Ahmad Zahir Haji Mokhtar and Mr. Lim Meng Kooi, Sales Manager, Techsource Systems Sdn Bhd. Also present was, the guest of honour, UniKL Chairman, Y.B. Datuk Dr. Adham Baba as ceremonial witness.
