Shah Alam, Sept 27, 2011-- National car manufacturer PROTON formalized collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) in the field of automotive. Its Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said, both parties will jointly develop training modules that are equivalent to Malaysia’s skills certificate level 4 and 5.

“Yes. This is a good initiative. As a company that manufactures cars, it is important for us to have strategic alliances like this. Other than the development of training modules, both parties will also offer consultation services and enhance the existing curriculum”, he said.

He said this after the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Kuala Lumpur and PROTON Holdings Bhd. in Shah Alam on Tuesday.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Y.B. Senator Dato’ Maznah Mazlan, UniKL Chairman Y.B. Datuk Dr. Adham Baba, and Managing Director of Proton, Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir. Also present was the Director General, Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources, Dr. Pang Chau Leong and UniKL Deputy President (Technopreneur and Student Affairs) Prof. Ahmad Zahir Hj. Mokhtar.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Y.B. Senator Dato’ Maznah Mazlan congratulated both parties for getting an understanding on cooperation and mutual recognition in terms of technical and vocational modules development. She said, this could further create opportunity to those who qualified in the field of automobile technology to increase their level of skills and jobs to a higher level.
