 Ahmad Helmi Abu Kassim, a Diploma Student of UniKL MIAT had represented Malaysia in the 27th International Symposium on Space and Science (ISTS) 2009 held at Tsukuba City, Japan on 5th to 11th July 2009. National Space Agency Malaysia (ANGKASA) and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) had selected Ahmad Helmi to present an experiment entitled “Analysis of Sound Wave at Zero Gravity Condition” at the symposium.  Nurhana Mohammed Tamin, a final year student in Data Communication UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) has made UniKL proud for being the only participant representing Malaysia in the 2009 World Competition on Microsoft Office (MMOC 2009) Toronto, Canada. Nurhana was selected to participate in the competition after scoring full marks during the National MMOC 2009 held on 8th to 10th July, 2009. This international competition has attracted participants worldwide including Japan, Argentina and Mexico. Nurhana competed with 40 other participants for the grand prize of RM 17,000 scholarship.  UniKL MIIT forestry expert Associate Professor Dr. Roslan Ismail was recognised by the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for his involvement in a comprehensive assessment of climate change research 17 years ago. He was one of the forest sector analysts involved in the Tropical Forest Research Network (F-7), which headed a study on carbon dioxide emissions in Malaysia and collaborated with top forestry researchers from United States, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Mexico. He also presented his paper F-7 meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Bangkok, Mexico City, Bogor, Geneva and Manila, and co-chaired a workshop held at University of California, Berkeley. In conjunction with Hari Pendidik MARA 2010 on June 17, 2010, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) awarded two UniKL Academicians the Anugerah Pendidik Terbilang MARA in recognition of their commitment and contribution towards education. Y.B. Dato’ Seri Haji Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal, Minister of Rural and Regional Development conferred the award to MIIT, UniKL Deputy Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shamsul Anuar Mokhtar for the Research and Innovation Category, while Datin Nor Hafizah Ismail who is also MIIT, UniKL lecturer, brought home the award for University and Community Service Category. In conjunction with Hari Pendidik MARA which was held on June 4, 2009 at German-Malaysian Institute (GMI), Bangi, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has conferred Anugerah Pendidik Terbilang MARA to outstanding educationalists and academicians for their excellence. Among the proud recipients of the award was our very own academician, Mr. Nazri Ismail, Lecturer, Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (MIIT). Mr. Nazri Ismail has been teaching in UniKL for eight years and has contributed to various researches and development efforts (R&D) in the field of Information Technology (IT). His researches were significant in the development of IT. Among his researches were, Voice Over IP (VOIP) : Impact and Outcome of its Implementation and the Impact of Security Network VPN. He has thus far published 17 journals internationally, namely in Korea, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States, Europe, India, Pakistan and Singapore. More news ...

Ir. Mohd Harridon Mohamed Suffian of UniKL MIAT made Universiti Kuala Lumpur proud when he was announced as the sole recipient of the Anugerah Khas Peringkat Kebangsaan in the Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Institusi Pendidikan MARA 2007 on June 25, 2008. Ir. Harridon received the highest recognition for his achievement to be in the top 10 placing as an Astronaut Candidate of the National Space Programme. The award was presented by Y.B. Dato’ Noh Haji Omar, Minister of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development (MeCD). The event, organised by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) is aimed to honour all staff, graduates and students from all education institutions under the MARA flagship (also known as IPMa) who have made headlines through their excellent academic achievements or who have won awards in various competitions, exhibitions or sports championship throughout the year 2007, both at the local and international arena. - UniKL Football Team Excelled in MASUM Cup 2009
UniKL Football team emerged Champion among the defeated pool teams after securing a 1 – 0 win against Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). This achievement placed UniKL among the top teams in MASUM lists. The MASUM Cup 2009 was held from 23rd to 31st May, 2009 at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Sri Iskandar, Perak. This seven weeks tournament was officiated by Dr. Saharudin Hj. Ismail, General Secretary, Sports Division of Ministry of Higher Education. 19 teams from Public Universities participated in this event and UniKL is the only private University in the tournament. UniKL Won 5 Medals Once again, UniKL strike for glory after winning 5 medals in the 5th UMS Taekwondo Open Championship at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. UniKL Malaysia Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) and UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) sent its contingent to participate in the Championship which was held from March 20th to 22nd, 2009. Four UniKL MSI fighters participated in the competition while six fighters represented UniKL BMI. UniKL team managed to grab four Bronze and 1 Gold medal. - NRIC 2009: 4 Silver and 2 Bronze for UniKL Teams
UniKL bagged 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals in the National Research and Innovation Competition 2009 (NRIC) which was held at the University Sains Malaysia (USM) Penang, from May 15th to 18th 2009. 21 teams represented UniKL from four institutions namely UniKL BMI (10 teams), UniKL IPROM (5 teams), UniKL MFI (4 teams), and UniKL MICET (2 teams). The four-day competition and exhibition featured 160 projects by 19 higher learning institutions was organised by the university’s Student Representative Council in collaboration with the Higher Education Ministry. Motorola was the main sponsor. The exhibition benefited students from various level as they shared and contributed ideas to improve their projects. The award winners from UniKL teams are as follows:

- International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2009. (ITEX 09)
20th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition was a great success with more than 1000 participations. ITEX 09 is now Asia’s leading platform for universities, research institutions, individual inventors and corporate sectors to showcase inventions, new technologies and products. ITEX 09 which was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from 15th to 17th May 2009 was organised by Malaysian Invention, Innovation and Design Society (MINDS). UniKL won five awards for all five research projects submitted. It was participated by five teams comprising of three teams from UniKL BMI, one team from IPROM and one team from UniKL MIAT. 'Pilot Debriefing Programme' a project led by Ir. Mohd Harridon B. Muhamed Suffian (UniKL MIAT) won gold award under aerospace & aviation category. This programme has the ability to aid air crash investigation and flight instructors. In fact, this project won two other gold awards, previously at Malaysia Technology Expo 09 (MTE 09). 'KG-Force Hand Grip System' led by Shah Rizailli Mukhtar from UniKL BMI took a silver medal over 40 teams taking part under Biotechnology, Health & Fitness category. This competition is an opportunity for UniKL to maximise exposure of its products and students to world audience. - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed Nur Azman won warded with an ITEX Silver Medal
In the recent 18th International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 07) held from May 18 – 20, 2007 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed Nur Azman (Dean, UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology - UniKL MICET) was awarded with an ITEX Silver Medal for his project DeHg The Mercury Vapour Remover. Another representative from UniKL MICET, Azril bin Maheran was also recognised with an ITEX Bronze Medal for his project ACADEMIX The Academic Records and Admission System.
