UniKL Resources Sdn. Bhd. (URSB), a company incorporated in Malaysia under the Companies Act 1965, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Universiti Teknikal MARA Sdn. Bhd. URSB was established to be the commercial arm of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL). URSB is the vehicle through which all commercial and income-generating activities of UniKL are created. URSB will provide the gateway and assists UniKL to access and exploit commercial opportunities. URSB seeks to maximise the commercial potential of UniKL’s skills, expertise and resources.
The objectives of UniKL Resources Sdn. Bhd. (URSB) are as follows:-
- become the commercial arm of UniKL, responsible for planning and putting up of general policies in regards to business activities conducted using UniKL owned resources and the setting up subsidiaries and joint ventures between UniKL and other entrepreneurs or enterprises
- coordinate, promote, manage and monitor all business activities of subsidiaries and joint venture companies
- identify new business opportunities to be ventured into
- provide income to UniKL thus minimizing the financial dependency on MARA and the Government

URSB will embark on activities and programs toward its main target groups of university graduates, industry experts and technopreneurs. The activities and programs will focus on the technopreneur development, provision of advisory & technical services, industrial research, testing & innovation and product commercialisation.

The principle activities of the Company are to provide business in training, advisory and consultancy services.

Services offered by the Company will be provided mainly by the staff of UniKL. On occasions where internal expertise is not available, external expertise will be sourced. Both internal and external expertise will be paid based on project basis.
Marketing of services offered by the Company will be done by UniKL through its Technopreneur Development and Innovation Division. At campus / institute level, units called Teknoputra will be responsible for the marketing of the services.
Currently, strategic partnership and collaboration activities are at discussion stage. Among the activities in the pipeline are joint venture discussion with a marine service provider company based in Lumut and twinning programs discussion with few state-based education institutions.
As for the revenue model, the Company is looking at various models depending on the nature of the collaboration. Profit sharing, equity participation or consortium-type arrangement might be considered.
