Aligned with the establishment of Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) that specialises in chemical, bio process, food, environment and polymer technology, it had successfully organised the 7th National Symposium on Polymeric Materials 2007 (NSPM 2007) together with the Plastic and Rubber Institute of Malaysia (PRIM) in the City Campus on November 27 – 28, 2007. With the theme “Polymeric Materials: The Way Forward”, amongst the objectives of the seminar were to provide a platform for those involve in Polymer Science and Technology to catalyse, enhance and disseminate new knowledge in polymeric materials science and technology. More than 40 participants attended the seminar which includes academicians, researchers, scientists, engineers, industrialists and postgraduate students. During this 2-day event, 38 research papers were presented which covered various topics namely, rubber and latex technology, plastics and composites technology, specialty polymers and polymer characterisation and testing. This seminar was the second series of national level conference conducted by UniKL MICET for this year alone, the first being the 3rd Thermal Analysis Conference which took place on October 23-24, 2007. NSPM 2007 was officiated by Y.Bhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri, President of UniKL. Also present were Y.Bhg. Prof. Dr. M. Nasir Zainal Ariff, President, Plastic & Rubber Institute of Malaysia and Prof. Dr. Azanam Shah Hashim, Dean of UniKL MICET.
