104 UniKL Civil Defence Forces Cadets Commissioned

A TOTAL of 104 Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) Class of 2020 undergraduates commissioned as second lieutenants in the Civil Defence Forces.

The commissioning ceremony, also known as Kor Siswa Siswi Pertahanan Awam (Kor SISPA), was held on April 14 at the Civil Defence Training Academy (Akademi Latihan Pertahanan Awam) in Bangi.

The third edition of the UniKL Kor Siswa Siswi Commissioning Ceremony was graced by the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Civil Defence Forces (APM) YB Datuk Roslan Wahab, APM Deputy Commissioner YB Ghazali Abdul Rahman, UniKL Acting President and CEO Prof. Dr. Shahrulniza Musa, senior APM officials, and members of UniKL top management.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions imposed under the Movement Control Order (MCO) by the government, 51 cadet officers received their certificates physically at the commissioning ceremony while 53 via virtual.

The ceremony was live-streamed via APM and UniKL Facebook, and MS Teams.

Prof Dr Shahrulniza, speaking in his capacity as Commandant of UniKL SISPA, congratulated the cadet officers on their success in completing training amid the challenges faced by the pandemic.

“I am proud to be here and congratulate the 104 UniKL Cadet Officers who have completed their training programme and syllabus amid the challenges faced by the coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

“This occasion marks an important milestone in your journey. UniKL’s position in setting up the Kor Siswa Siswi Pertahanan Awam is vital in developing graduates who excel not only in their academic fields but looking at the holistic approach as well,” added Prof Dr Shahrulniza.

He also commended APM on its 69th Anniversary celebration and opening of its new headquarters in Bangi that was launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on 24 March.
