2021 Study in Korea Education Fair: Seize the Opportunity!

The ‘2021 Study in Korea Education Fair’ is one of the ultimate platforms for those who desire to pursue their studies in Korea which has been renowned for its globally influential k-pop culture.

An approximate of 43 universities from various countries are joining the education fair that offers various courses and academic programmes including Technical Engineering, Social Science and Humanity, and more.

According to the Head of Section Korean Education Center (KEC) at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT), Mohd Hafizul Ismail, the universities are also promoting their scholarship programmes especially for foreign students including language proficiency scholarship.

“I think this year’s education fair is quite unique because this is the first time we are using the hybrid mode which involves online and offline education fairs. Previously, they did send representatives to do the promotion of their universities, but starting from this year, they recruit the local representatives which consist of our students.

“But, we still have real-time communication with them,” said him, who is also the Event Committee of the ‘2021 Study in Korea Education Fair’.

The four-day annual event which takes place until 14 November 2021, is organised by KEC, a newly established center by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia. The education fair is aimed at promoting Korean universities to Malaysian students.

Interestingly, ‘2021 Study in Korea Education Fair’ also opens an opportunity for the visitors and participants to interact with the 43 universities through webinars during question and answer session. Another alternative is, they can grab first-hand information about the universities involved in-person at Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking at the official opening of the education fair that takes place today, Ambassador of Republic of Korea in Malaysia, His Excellency Lee Chi Beom said that since the implementation of the Look East Policy in the 1980s, the number of Malaysians who continued their studies in the country has gradually increased.

“I wish to extend my sincere congratulations on the opening of the ‘2021 Study in Korea Education Fair’. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea together with the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) hold the education fair. This year, since the education fair is conducted in a hybrid format, more universities are able to participate compared to the previous year.

“I am sure, the increased number of universities participating this year will help students to get more information. Malaysia and Korea have been promoting people-to-people exchanges over the years. Every year, we see more than 1,000 Malaysian students studying in Korea and around 1,500 Korean students studying in Malaysia,” said him during his inauguration speech at the education fair.

Also present, President of Korean Institution Graduates Alumni Association (Agiko), Zamri Abbas; Director of Malaysia-Korea Education Center, Jooran Ahn; UniKL Deputy President (Academic & Technology), Prof. Dr. Shahrulniza Musa and Dean of UniKL MIIT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long.
