UniKL clinches 4 awards at ASEAN International Student Competition

 

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) continues to establish its eminence in Vietnam by bagging four awards at the 2nd ASEAN International Student Competition (AISC2022), which concluded on October 25th.

Notably, UniKL, through its International Office (UIO), Centre for Student Development (CSD), and Teknoputra co-hosted the competition with Thai Nguyen Business & Economy Administration (TUEBA) in the East Asian country’s city of Thai Nguyen.

Three students from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET) namely Noor Hafizi Hasani Noorasrul Hasani; Muhammad Aiman Azmi; and Qasrina Batrisyia Mohd Azrin lifted the champion title in the Academic Category (Business Model Canvas).

UniKL MIMET took home the champion title in the Academic Category (Business Model Canvas).

Meanwhile, Zarith Adriana Mohd Zawawi; Zarith Alyssa Mohd Zawawi; Rushafiq Abdul Rahim; Shahirah Shaharruddin; and Syed Zain Ul Abdin finished third in the same category for UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT).

The participants in this category have to pitch a new business and map a business development strategy.

The third award clinched was in the Non-Academic Category with UniKL MIMET bagging first place in the singing competition and UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) winning the dancing competition.

Nicknamed Royal Tandak, UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) bagged first place in the dancing competition.

UniKL MIMET was represented by Sharif Kamarul Husin Mohd Haflan, whilst UniKL RCMP sent out Muhamad Ashraf Abdullah; Muhammad Aiman Fahmi bin Abdul Mutalib; Ma’az Balkhi A Sahar; Nur Affie Fasihah Abdul Rasid; Nurul Airina Sa’aban; Nur Haswani Mohd Asli; Syahir Hilmi Mohd Hamzani; and Wan Nur Liyana Wan Mokhtar.

Other universities participating include Khao Kean Business School (Thailand), Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (Indonesia) and Polytechnique University of Philippines (Philippines).

Participating in the competition allows UniKL students to gain new knowledge, and get exposure to other ASEAN countries’ cultures while establishing a good rapport with the international students.

In its entirety, UniKL utilised this golden opportunity to network and discuss with partner universities for other collaborations such as Exchange Programmes, Edutourism, Visiting Academicians, Research Grants and Joint Publications.

UniKL will host a coordination meeting with partners for AISC2023 by the end of next year and expects to receive delegations from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

At the same time, the discussion has also been kicked off for participation from Cambodia and Laos universities.

For the record, the 1st AISC2021 was accomplished fully online and hosted by an Indonesian partner university.
