UniKL, Avisena reach agreement on placement programmes
Avisena Healthcare Sdn. Bhd. has entered into a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) to offer placement opportunities for the latter’s students to undergo industrial and clinical training.
UniKL graduates will also be able to take advantage of the job opportunities provided by the fast-growing healthcare centre through the MoC.
Avisena Healthcare’s Deputy Chairman and Corporate Advisor, Dato’ Dr. Omar Abd Hamid said, the healthcare provider is in expansion mode and it plans to increase its bed capacity from 250 to 900, by next year.
With the aim, Avisena is in dire need of a more professional workforce, especially those with expertise in nursing areas, he further noted.
“For us, this is a win-win situation, where Avisena will acquire quality nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and medical imaging personnel produced by UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP). We have chosen UniKL RCMP because its graduates have proven to be of high quality and show a high level of commitment,” said Dato’ Dr. Omar in his opening speech.
The signing ceremony took place at Mardhiyyah Hotel, Shah Alam today (9 November) and it was signed by the Group Chief Executive Officer of Avisena Healthcare, Elina Nadia Omar, and President and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar.
The ceremony was witnessed by Dato’ Dr Omar and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL RCMP, Hisshamuddin Omar.
Also present were the Chairman of Avisena Healthcare, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf; Director General of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Dato’ Azhar Abdul Manaf; Deputy Director-General (Education) of MARA, YBhg. En. Razlan Haji Samsuri; MARA Senior Director of Investment, YBhg. En. Mohd Diah Abas; and Group Chief Executive Officer of MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Julainie Mohd Salleh.
Deepening the joint effort, Avisena Healthcare intends to send its existing employees who display a high interest to continue their studies in the field of Nursing Diploma at UniKL RCMP beginning next year.
At the event, six Avisena Healthcare employees were among the first batch to receive a scholarship for this purpose.
Welcoming the cooperation, Datuk Dr. Roziah described the synergistic relationship as momentous. “I also believe that there are still many more potential areas that we can explore together such as technology exchange, research and development (R&D), corporate social responsibility (CSR) and open interview sessions for final-year students that will contribute to mutual benefit,” she added.
