UniKL MITEC’s Lean Healthcare session with 149 hospital directors
Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology (UniKL MITEC) remains dedicated to enhancing healthcare sector quality by conducting a knowledge-sharing session on Lean Healthcare with 149 local hospital directors.
Entitled “Quality Improvement Initiatives for Healthcare Leaders”, this sharing session featured three speakers from UniKL MITEC: Head of Research and Innovation (R&I) and Senior Lecturer for Quality Engineering Section, Ts. Dr. Mohd Amran Mohd Daril; Head of Advancement & Continuing Education (ACE) and Senior Lecturer for Quality Engineering Section, Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohamad Ikbar Abdul Wahab; and Final Year Project Section Coordinator and Lecturer for Quality Engineering Section, Ts. Rahmat Roslan Buang.
According to Ts. Dr. Mohd Amran, the session aims to facilitate a brief brainstorming gathering to collect insights for the forthcoming creation of customised training modules designed for Lean Healthcare Leaders, primarily targeting Hospital Directors.
These modules are planned for implementation in 2024.
“The Lean Healthcare Leaders training module is an integral component of the Lean Healthcare Sustainability plan, designed to ensure the continuous implementation of lean healthcare practices.
“Our objectives include providing participants with a brief overview of diverse quality improvement methodologies, including Lean and Six Sigma, evaluating the participants’ baseline technical knowledge related to the Lean Healthcare improvement initiative, and formulating a list of actionable recommendations to bolster Top Management Commitment in the pursuit of Key Success Factors for Lean Healthcare Implementation,” he explained.
For the record, the session was a part of the meeting agenda for the ‘Mesyuarat Teknikal Program Perubatan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia 2023’.
The session drew the presence of notable figures; among them were Deputy Director-General of Health (Medical), Dato’ Dr. Asmayani Khalib, Director of the Medical Development Division, Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azman Yacob along with various Medical Directors, Deputy Directors of State Health (Medical), and Directors of Hospitals and Special Medical Institutions under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH).
