UniKL dominates with 8 medals at WSMUC 2023

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has demonstrated exceptional prowess by clinching a total of eight medals at the recently concluded second edition of the WorldSkills Malaysia University Challenge (WSMUC 2023).

This event, hailed as a Future Skills competition, served as a platform for students to gain practical experience, essential technical skills, and adaptability in the face of the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

The outstanding achievement includes two Gold medals secured by Amir Rasyad Roslan from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) and Mohammad Ezaly Iman Ramli from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT).

These individuals triumphed in the Chemical Lab Technology and Cyber Security categories, respectively.

Complementing the Gold medals, UniKL bagged four Silver and two Bronze medals across various categories.

The competition featured six contested segments including Mobile Applications Development, Mechanical Engineering Design CAD, Rail Technology, and Aircraft Maintenance.

A total of 68 competitors from 19 institutes, including six from UniKL, showcased their skills during the event held from October 2 to October 10, 2023.

This successful collaboration between UniKL and the WorldSkills Malaysia Unit at the Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources highlights the university’s commitment to fostering practical skills and preparing students for the dynamic job market.

UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) took the lead in coordinating and organising this Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) inter-university skills competition.

Beyond being a showcase of skills, participation in WSMUC 2023 serves as strategic preparation for the future job market and international skills competitions.

The initiative is thoughtfully designed to cater not only to UniKL students but also to address the broader university student community in Malaysia.

By serving as a pivotal pathway, this competition plays a crucial role in identifying and nurturing talent within vital fields, making a substantial contribution to the nation’s workforce preparedness in the contemporary job landscape.
