UniKL’s micro-credential short courses in the pipeline

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) will soon offer micro-credential short courses following a document of cooperation signed with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), recently.

Through this sealed partnership, the micro-credential programme will provide participants, especially working adults, with opportunities to add value to their skills in order to remain relevant in their respective careers.

This forward-looking collaboration will involve two institutes of UniKL which are Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI).

A total of five undergraduate programmes at each institute have been identified for the programme development – which will also primarily incorporate both inputs from MCMC and UniKL.

Upon attaining their certificate, the participants are eligible to transfer credit should they further study at UniKL.

Apart from UniKL, the cooperation document has also been signed with other two institutions namely the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and the Malaysian Nuclear Agency.

During the document signing ceremony, UniKL was represented by the Dean of UniKL MIIT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long on behalf of the UniKL President/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar.

Essentially, UniKL’s involvement in the cooperation will avail MCMC’s efforts to develop national digital talent and empower the digital economy through strategic collaborations.
