UniKL MITEC seen capable of attracting foreign investors to Johor – MARA Chairman

Having the combination of industry-standard equipment and facilities will bolster Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology (UniKL MITEC) to become an indirect pivot for Johor to attract more foreign investors in the future.

Chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Datuk Seri Panglima Hajah Azizah Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Dun said that such an advantage could produce exceptional graduates who can supply industry players with the services they need.

“I am very proud of UniKL MITEC that has shown outstanding achievements in terms of the studies of logistics and the latest, the simulation facilities in oil and gas, which are not only important (to spearhead economy) in Johor, but for Malaysia.

“With UniKL MITEC offering high-quality human resources as demanded by the industries nestled in Johor, this state is poised to encourage more investment coming in, involving different sectors,” remarked her.

She said so after an engagement session with the staff of MARA Johor centres at UniKL MITEC, yesterday (5 July 2022).

Also present, MARA Deputy Director-General (Entrepreneurship), YBhg. Dato’ Zulfikri Osman; MARA Deputy Director-General (Education), YBhg. En. Razlan Haji Samsuri; Member of UniKL Board of Director, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Megat D. Shahriman Dato’

Prior to that, she undertook a tour at UniKL MITEC’s newly-developed simulator, Simulated Downstream Integrated Plant, which aims to train more highly skilled personnel in the operation, maintenance and safety field of the oil and gas industry.

For the record, the RM7.1 million-worth simulator is the only facility equivalent to the actual standard of the petroleum refining industry that is available at a Malaysian university, and it was also launched by the Minister of Rural Development (KPLB), YB Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid, this year.

Strategically located in the centre of the industrial area and near Johor Bahru city centre and Singapore checkpoint access, the campus specifically offers Quality Engineering, Process Instrumentation, Facilities Maintenance, Industrial Logistics and Supply Chain programmes.
