Pre-Russian University Engineering Program

The Pre-Russian Engineering Programme (Pre Russian) is a 14 months (12 months in Malaysia + 2 months in Russia) preparatory programme for students with academic excellence who wish to pursue their studies in Russia. Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) has been aptly chosen to be the centre for this preparatory programme as it stresses on the concept of teaching and learning in the Russian way. This programme is self-sponsored and also under Young Talent Development Programme (YTP)

Pre Russian Engineering Programme has been running for 5 years, started off with the first batch of 21 students in July 2005. They began their 1st year studies in Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) in July 2006. 33 students enrolled as the second batch in July 2006 and were currently in their 3rd semester. Ten of these students will be furthering their studies in State Marine Technology University (SMTU), St. Petersburg, Russia in 2 faculties; Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering.


Programme Structure

This programme is a 14 months (12 months in Malaysia + 2 months in Russia) preparatory programme:

  • In Malaysia
    The students selected by MARA via Excellent Student Scheme/ Skim Pelajar Cemerlang will go for a 12 months preparatory programme (3 semesters) at UniKL MIAT. The subjects taught are Russian language, Physics, Mathematics, Informatic, Technical Drawing, Islamic Studies and Malaysian Studies.The Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) certified that the Pre-Russian University Engineering Programme conducted at UniKL MIAT has attained the quality standards and criteria set by the Agency and been approved by MQA (Registration N0 : A 7481).
  • In Russia
    After the 12 months preparatory at UniKL MIAT, the students will undergo a two monthscultural course in Russia. This is where students will follow an intensive Russian language course, Mathematics and Physics. Students will be introduced to the Russian way of life during this two months of bridging programme.

 

After the bridging programme, the students will be joining any of these universities in Russia to pursue their first degree program namely Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) for aviation programme, St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University (SMTU) for marine programme, Bauman Moscow State University, Far Eastern Federal University, Samara State Aerospace University and Tomsk State University, education collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur

Self-Sponsored Students

  • Pass SPM / SPMV with at least credits in FIVE (5) subjects including Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and Science subject; OR
  • Pass the O-Level with at least a C grade in FIVE (5) subjects; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications.

MARA Scholarship

  • Pass SPM / SPMV with at least SIX (6) A’s including Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Science stream subject
  • The Application through MARA website. The intake will be announced by MARA. – www.mara.gov.my
