Trio Going Great Guns At Hammock Helicopter

Hammock Helicopter Engineering Manager Syed Aizad Syed Ali briefs Muhammad Syaamil Hariiri Abdul Baser and Najihah Fakhriyah

VALUABLE employees are often given due recognition in any organisation. They play crucial roles and are a future investment.

Syed Aizad Syed Ali, Muhammad Syaamil Hariiri Abdul Baser and Najihah Fakhriyah are among the vital cogs and pride of Hammock Helicopter Sdn Bhd.

The trio are graduates of UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT). Syed Aizad currently holds the position of Engineering Manager, Syaamil, 24, graduated in Aircraft Engineering Technology (Hons) in Mechanical) and a two-time Employee of the Month (April and May 2020) Award recipient while Najihah received the award in March.

Najihah 23, joined the company eight months ago after completing her Bachelor’s programme in Aviation Management.

“I am grateful to be employed by Hammock Helicopter after completing my internship here. In December 2019, I was offered the position of a technician and gradually moved up to being an executive in the Planning Division,” said Syaamil. He enrolled into UniKL MIAT under MARA (Majlis Amanah Rakyat) Excellent Student Scheme after completing his SPM examination at MRSM Kuala Krai in the Malaysian east coast state of Kelantan.

“For me, Hammock is an ideal place to work as it offers an experience beyond what I had envisioned. We are allowed to do maintenance work on different models of helicopters from various manufacturers and international customers,” said Syaamil.

Hammock Helicopter was formed in 2006 by founder and Managing Director Mark McGregor in creating a one-stop solution for aviation maintenance, inspection, logistics and consulting services. Its base of operation is Hangar 1 at UniKL MIAT in Subang. McGregor is a licensed aircraft engineer and has been in the industry for more than 40 years.

The graduates who received their awards were Dr Jasminder Kaur A/P Hari Singh (MMA), Dr. Nurul Huda Binti Ismail (O & G), Dr. Muhammad Yahya (Pediatric), Dr. Muhammad

Danial Mohamad Rosni (Orthopedic), Dr. Muhammad Firdhaus Pazil (Primary Care), Dr. Theviyaah Thiagarajan (Mental Health) Dr. Nur Fitriati Azhani Fauzi (Public Health) and Dr. Wan Nur Adilah Wan Halim (Medicine).

Meanwhile the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Associate Professor Syed Rahim Syed Hamid, in his speech advised the graduates to treat patients equally and humbly regardless of their status and race.

“My advice to you would to be humble as you do not become any less of a doctor by being so. You will be working together as a team with categories of healthcare members. Do not look down on them as you are part of the team with one common goal which is the safety and wellbeing of your patients. Mutual respect is very essential. You will realise soon enough that you may learn a thing or two from them. Believe me, I did.”

Also present at the ceremony were Prof. Dato’ Dr Azanam Shah Hashim, Deputy President of International, Industrial & Institutional Partnership (IIIP); Puan Nor Zaini Abu Kassim (MARA Perak Director); Hisshamuddin Omar, CEO/ Head of Campus UniKL RCMP, Dr. Suresh Subramaniam, representing Chairman of Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Perak; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine RCMP Associate Professor Dr Mah Kin Kheong, and Puan Haslina Tan Sali, representing the Director, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh.

Meanwhile, Professor Dato’ Dr. Wahinuddin Sulaiman was elected as the Fellow of the Royal College of Physician London (FRCP). The FRCP Fellowship is an accolade held by some of the most exceptional and innovative physicians in the world. It is a mark of their achievement and skill as a doctor and recognises their ongoing contribution to the profession.
