UniKL Awarded 5-Star SETARA Rating

UNIVERSITI Kuala Lumpur added another feather in the cap, earning a five-star rating in the latest SETARA ratings announced by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

“I would like to congratulate all staff of UniKL as we have been rated SETARA 5 STARS under category Matured University in the recent SETARA Rating exercise by the Ministry of Higher Education,” said UniKL Acting President and Chief Executive Officer Prof. Dr. Shahrulniza Musa.

“We have improved our rating from 4 stars in the last SETARA exercise completed in 2017,” he added. The audit was conducted by Price Waterhouse Cooper (PwC) on behalf of MOHE in September 2020.

It has been a successful year for Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), akin to winning a grand slam in higher education.

Operating under the aegis of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), UniKL is among the top best 300 universities in the Quacquarelli-Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2021 announced on Nov 25. Established in 2002, UniKL is now ranked 291-300, moving up 50 places from the previous ranking.

Earlier in October UniKL marked another milestone in Times Higher Education (THE) World Subject Rankings this year – ranked in its specialised subject areas, namely, 501–600 in Business and Economics, 801+ in Computer Science, and 801–1000 in Engineering.

UniKL is now categorised as Malaysian top six universities in Business and Economics and top 10 in Computer Science and Engineering respectively.

In September 2020, for the first time, UniKL made it to the list of the 2021 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings at 1000+ and in the Top 10 among Malaysian universities. Developed under the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2025 for Higher Education, SETARA employs a rigorous assessment methodology to rate an education institution’s three core functions namely teaching, research and services.
