UniKL donates over RM44,000 worth of Covid-19 relief to frontliners

The handover of ‘Box of Love’ is part of UniKL ‘Malaysian Frontliners, UniKL CARE’ nationwide campaign that involves all the 12 campuses

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) contributed a total of RM44,189 worth of Covid-19 relief initiative called ‘Box of Love’ to frontline workers at 16 hospitals nationwide.

The donation, which was raised from all UniKL students and staff, the university’s alumni, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and even the public – were utilised to purchase essential items such as food packs, hand sanitisers, face masks, medical equipment, infusion pumps, and earmuffs.

The handover of ‘Box of Love’ is part of UniKL ‘Malaysian Frontliners, UniKL CARE’ nationwide campaign which involves all the 12 campuses.

Aside from one of the university’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, it also aims to show support and gratitude to the Malaysian frontline workers for being untiringly and bravely carried out their duty to keep the community safe amid this challenging time.

President and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar said, to further intensify the efforts of Malaysian frontline workers in the prevention and control of Covid-19, the technical university has decided to create the ‘Box of Love’ initiative.

“I am very happy to know that there are 16 hospitals in each state or Federal Territory in our country had received the UniKL Care Box of Love, which involved 1,600 frontliners.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has been difficult to deal with and it has put a strain on our healthcare system. Despite this, our healthcare staff continues to devote their time, energy, and effort to halt the pandemic.

“Last but not least, my gratitude to all contributors who have donated and supported this project as well as to the respective 16 hospitals throughout Malaysia that have received our UniKL Box of Love,” said YBhg. Datuk Dr. Roziah in her address during the virtual closing ceremony of ‘Malaysian Frontliners, UniKL CARE’ campaign, today.

Organised by Student Development Department of Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) in collaboration with Centre for Student Development (CSD) as well as Centre for Alumni and Career Services (CACS) at all other 11 campuses, the campaign kicked off on 9 September 2021 until 26 November 2021.

Apart from the donations of essential items and medical equipment, the frontline workers also received a compilation of poems entitled Buku Antologi Puisi Terima Kasih Barisan Hadapan, published by UniKL Publishing Sdn Bhd.
