UniKL MSI and Kulim Technology Park Corporation ink MoC to strengthen academia-industry relationship

Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) and Kulim Technology Park Corporation Sdn Bhd (KTPC) have signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to develop collaboration in various potential areas.

This includes the sharing of available resources and expertise for education, talent pools, professional industrial programmes and industrialmanship initiatives.

The MoC was signed by President and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, YBHG Datuk Dr Roziah Omar and Group Chief Executive Officer of KTPC, Tuan Haji Mohd Sahil Zabidi, in the presence of Senior State Executive Council Member, Industry & Investment Higher Education, Science, Technology & Innovation, Hons. Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail and KTPC Head, Sales and Strategic Planning, Puan Nurliza Ahmad.

YBHG Datuk Dr Roziah said that the academia-industry relationship will further improve UniKL graduates’ employability with UniKL MSI becoming the focal point to lead the initiative.

“This agreement is also in line with the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) in accelerating human capital development, especially in Kedah by establishing the cooperation between KTPC and UniKL MSI as well as other UniKL institutes.

“Under the MoC, UniKL will set up a blueprint that will outline not only a short-term strategy but beyond the goals set forth in 12MP that highlights strategic coordination between UniKL and Kedah for nation building, as a whole,” said her after the MoC signing ceremony that was held in Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), Kulim, Kedah.

Also in attendance, Kulim District Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Officer, Mohammad Hassnan Hafiz Abdul Rahman; UniKL Chief Marketing and Planning Officer (CMPO), Dato’ Amir Azhar Ibrahim; Director of UniKL Centre for Industrial Linkages (CIL), Ts. Dr. Zulhafiz Tajudin; General Manager of Centre for Advancement & Continuing Education (ACE) and UniKL Resources Sdn. Bhd. (URSB), Encik Anuar Berahim; UniKL MSI Dean, Prof. Dr. Sazali Yaacob; and UniKL MSI Deputy Dean (International Industrial & Institutional Partnership), Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahrizan Yusoff.
