“UniKL to maintain as one of the best private universities” – MARA Corporation Chairman

The Chairman of MARA Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Yb. Senator Dato’ Wira Othman Hj. Aziz is optimistic that Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) will maintain as one of the best private universities in Malaysia. 

He said that Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and the MARA Corporation hopefully will assist UniKL to ensure the technical university continues to offer courses to students all over the country.

“I hope the collaboration from all will ensure every opportunity is given to everyone, especially the rural Malays, to further studies in their respective courses that will fulfill their dreams and land a job in the future,” said him after visiting UniKL City Campus, today.

He further noted that it is one of his agendas to visit all the subsidiaries of MARA Corporation.

Also present, MARA Deputy Director of Finance I, Encik Mohamad Nor Sazelim Mohamad; the acting Chief Executive Officer of MARA Corporation, YBhg. Encik Noor Irwan Marmin; Board Member of UniKL, YBhg. Orang Kaya Kaya Imam Paduka Tuan Perak  Dato’ Dr. Afifi Al-Akiti; Chairman of UniKL, YBhg. Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Sukiman Sarmani; President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Roziah Binti Omar; and Chief Marketing and Planning Officer (CMPO) of UniKL, Dato’ Amir Azhar Ibrahim.

During the official visit, Yb. Senator Dato’ Wira Othman undertook a 30-minute tour to exhibitions of 12 campuses which showcased the courses offered and the respective areas of specialisation. 

“I would like to extend my grateful appreciation to UniKL management and staff for accommodating my visit today, as the newly appointed MARA Corporation Chairman. I am very happy to note that UniKL is doing very well.

“With all the explanation and information given today, I am very optimistic that UniKL will always maintain as one of the best private universities in the country,” he said. 

Notably, MARA Corporation was established in 2016, as the impact economy investment holding company of  MARA, and the objective is to manage and develop MARA’s commercial entities under a single entity.

As part of the investment mandate and strategy, MARA Corporation will undertake investment in national key economic sectors to achieve financial growth and to nurture world-class Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
