UniKL’s clean-up efforts in flood-affected areas continued

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) is committed to helping the flood victims by continuing the clean-up efforts at the affected areas in Kampung Bukit Changgang, Selangor, yesterday.

The technical varsity has mobilised 22 volunteers consisting of 9 staff and 13 students in the post-flood clean-up operation, led by the Director of UniKL’s Campus Lifestyle Division (CLD), Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Izuddin Fahmy Abu and Dean of UniKL France Institute (UniKL MFI), Prof. Ts, Dr. Jamel Othman.

Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Izuddin said that UniKL volunteers worked together with the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) representatives to assist in the clean-up of debris and damaged items, as well as wash and scrub the muddied windows, walls, and floors of 18 houses.

“Efforts to rehabilitate the community areas affected by the floods will take a long time as the effects are severe in some areas, especially during the pandemic. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all Malaysians to help affected communities.

“In line with the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia and Mara Prihatin, UniKL will continue to mobilise its energy towards ‘rebuilding the community’ because ‘UniKL Care’,” he noted.

Like the previous clean-up operation efforts in Taman Sri Nanding, UniKL is still keeping up with wiring inspections and repairs at the victims’ houses on top of the laborious cleaning-up process.

Notably, the flood-relief works witnessed a total of 300 volunteers from the agencies under the KPLB to help clean up the victims’ houses and amenities there.
