UniKL’s VR among attractions to explore at 100-day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia

Experience and explore Immersif Desa, a virtual reality (VR) project by Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) for yourself at the 100-day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia programme!

Specially developed in conjunction with the 100-day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia, Immersif Desa is indeed one of the main attractions at the event that allows visitors to ‘enter’ into a virtual village by using a remote control.

UniKL’s Teknoputra Head of Section, Mohd Ariff Majmi Zaaba said this virtual reality application is 100 percent inspired by the Minister of Rural Development, YB Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

“We took only one week to develop this project. When users ‘enter’ the world of Immersif Desa, they will be able to see the environment and atmosphere of the countryside virtually and they can explore the world by using a remote control.

“In addition, users can also do some interactive activities such as harvesting oil palm fruit, changing tires vehicles, and others,” said him who is also one of the project developers for Immersif Desa.

The project was developed using two main software namely Unity 3D and Autodesk Virtual while users will use Oculus Rift to experience the peaceful village immersively.

Apart from the VR project, a demonstration on homemade hand sanitizer will be showcased by UniKL Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH) on 12 December 2021 (Sunday) from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm at the Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) Pavilion.

Notably, 100-day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia which hosts various exhibitions by ministries and agencies under the Prime Minister Department is taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) for four days beginning 9 December 2021.

Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his opening address said that the overall performance of the 100 Days of the Cabinet has reached around 90 percent.

“During the 100-day period of administration, the government also looked seriously to ensure that infrastructure could be improved across the country, as outlined in the fourth thrust. Among the focuses is the housing programme for the targeted group.

“Within 100 days, the KPLB has built 800 housing units with a development status of at least 75% completion, benefiting 4,000 households,” he noted.
