Yayasan Pelajaran MARA grants SDEP to 10 UniKL students

Ten students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) have been chosen to receive the Skim Dana Ehsan Pendidikan (SDEP), a one-off financial aid programme administered by the MARA Education Foundation (Yayasan Pelajaran MARA-YPM).

The financial aid, funded by Ekuiti Nasional Berhad, was handed over today by the Acting Chief Executive Officer of YPM, YBhg. Encik Mohd Amran Mohd Ariffin to the first five students from UniKL’s campuses in Klang Valley, each receiving RM2,500.

While witnessing the handover, the President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar, expressed her enthusiastic appreciation for the synergetic initiative by YPM to support UniKL students, as well as the newly proposed initiatives presented by the foundation.

The Deputy President (Academic & Technology) of UniKL, Prof. Dr. Kushsairy Abdul Kadir; Deputy President (International, Industrial & Institutional Partnership) of UniKL, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin; Chief Marketing and Planning Officer (CMPO) of UniKL, Dato’ Amir Azhar Ibrahim; Director of UniKL Marketing & Student Recruitment Division (MeSRA), Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Eida Nadirah Roslin; and the Director of UniKL Campus Lifestyle Division (CLD), Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Izuddin Fahmy Abu, were also present.

Speaking on behalf of the CLD – the main organiser of the event, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Izuddin expressed his belief that the financial aid would serve as a much-needed support for the new students who are in need to settle in, especially given the current economic climate where the cost of living is continually on the rise.

“We are immensely grateful to YPM and Ekuinas for their financial assistance. We sincerely hope that the new students will use the aid wisely and value the support, inspiring them to study hard and strive for excellence throughout their academic journey.

A two-way discussion was held before the handover ceremony.

“We are hopeful that this partnership with YPM will pave the way for more collaborative efforts with UniKL, especially towards nurturing holistic and talented human capital for the nation’s development,” said him, following the handover ceremony.

The recipients of the financial aid are new students who enrolled at UniKL for bachelor’s programmes under the September and October intake last year.

The financial aid comprises university admission assistance worth RM1,000 and a one-off living allowance for the remaining amount.

For the record, it targets households with an income bracket of RM3,500 and below.
